No More Brown

To celebrate the first day of spring, we romped about in the mud, brainstormed words using all our senses, and wrote about mud season in New England.

No More Brown

The birds chirping.

The buds popping.

The flowers growing.

Sugaring is starting.

It is getting warm out.

The leaves will be growing on the trees.

Spring is coming

Then . . .  on the second day of spring . . . .

Introducing . . . . Frog!

Three things you should know about me are that I 100 % like frogs.   I like hockey, and I get to take turns on my team playing all the positions.  Third, I like birds.  I like watching them at the birdfeeder.  I’m looking forward to seeing what you are going to write in the blogging challenge.

Vacation Verb Poem

Wrapped presents and then tore them open.

Danced to the score horn of the Boston Bruins.

Slid down the stairs at our Papa and Nana’s.

Walked our cousin’s new dog.

Slept in my dad’s old bed at Nana and Papa’s house.

Played with Kevin the Pug.

Played with my cousins.

STUBC Week 9 Challenge: Coding

For week 9, we chose to try an Hour of Code activity.  We have been working with Coding Awbie on Osmo, and this week we tried some Minecraft tutorials.

I tried coding.  It was the Minecraft Voyage Aquatic.  It was really fun.  I got to level 7.  I have a friend who loves Minecraft.  I thought the coding was kind of hard at first, but if you stick with it, you will get the hang of it.  There are places you have to get something like a treasure or a turtle to get to the next level, and that is fun.

My Bird Feeder Prototype

Our engineering challenge was to design a bird feeder that would attract a certain type of bird.

My problem statement:

I want chickadees to come to my yard.  I need a bird feeder with food and pegs for my bird to stand on.  I will make the feeder safe from cats by attaching a door with a weight limit that would shut the door from cats.

My ideas for my bird feeder:

My prototype:

Snow

Snow is water, but it is frozen.  You can sled on it.  You can make snow forts.  Sometimes it snows on a school day, and you can ski in it.  The best part is having fun!  Making snowmen is fun.  Making snow statues or especially snowmen is the best.  You get to have hot cocoa after sledding.  When the ponds get frozen and the temperature outside goes under twenty degrees, you know it is winter.  There are snowflakes falling from the sky!  Hooray for snow!

Hop on over!
